Heres a more in-depth look at Mallard, our Tench lake.
The lake contains only tench which currently average about 1.5lbs, although they do go a fair bit bigger than this. During a few recent sessions, Tim has had nets of 30lb+ in less than two hours!
The lily pads which run up the middle of the lake are an obvious feature to target, but there are just as many fish close in. Maggots, corn and pellets will all get you plenty of bites, and a good little tip is to feed a small ball of groundbait after every couple of fish, rather than piling in lots of bait at once
